Anderson Anderson & Brown LLP (AAB) are proud to be sponsoring the Scottish Oil Club in London throughout 2018 with their series of presentations by leading industry figures and networking evenings at The Geological Society.

The 2018 series kicks off on Thursday 8 February with Tim Davies, Group Exploration Manager from Premier Oil discussing the Zama Discovery, Offshore Mexico. This important new oil discovery has been described as world-class and is also of historical significance as it was also the first well offshore Mexico to be drilled by the private sector.

With a recovering oil price that has remained relatively stable in 2017 and into 2018, this substantial new discovery in a proven but under-drilled basin, estimated to contain over 1 billion barrels of oil in place is of international significance. It vindicates Mexico’s strategy of tapping into external international investment and technical expertise in order to fully exploit its hydrocarbon potential.

At AAB, we can echo these exciting and inspiring developments with our own client experiences in the Mexican Oil & Gas industry. We witnessed first-hand, the level of interest and commitment of indigenous Mexican companies seeking to learn from and work with international businesses in the industry. What’s more, we have seen a very open and refreshing recognition of skills gaps – and how these can be bridged through open collaboration, delivering mutual gains to all parties involved.

All of these developments, from a world class discovery to a developing Mexican Oil & Gas industry that is opening its doors and continuing to grow, should be hugely encouraging and inspiring to us and we should perhaps be considering booking a place on the forthcoming UK Oil & Gas Trade Mission to Mexico, 26 February to 1 March, you can view the full details here.

As AAB continues to grow its chartered accountancy and business advisory services in the international Oil & Gas industry from London and Aberdeen, we look forward to collaborating further with the Scottish Oil Club.
